BY ALAN OSBORNTHE EUROPEAN Commission has ordered a reduction in the state aid proposed by the German government to help the company Capro Schwedt to build a new plant for the production of caprolactam, the main input material for the production of synthetic fibres. Brussels said that under EU rules for regional aid paid by the state, the figure should represent 21 per cent of the investment costs rather than the 28 per cent proposed by Germany.
