BRUSSELS EARMARKS EURO 3.6 MILLION FOR ROMANIA STEEL REDUNDANCIES

The European Commission has proposed that Euro EUR3.6 million be taken from the European Union’s (EU) globalisation fund to help 1,000 former steel workers in Romania get back to work. The sum must be formally approved by the European Parliament and Council of Ministers. The fund was launched in 2007 to help people laid off because of competition from non-EU developing countries.The payment will match an identical sum from the Romanian government to assist former employees of steel products manufacturer Mechel Câmpia Turzii and downstream producer Mechel ...
