CROATIA SAUSAGE TO RECEIVE GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION STATUS

CROATIA’S meat sector has started reaping the benefits of the country’s June European Union (EU) accession, with officials lodging papers to ensure EU geographical indication for the Baranjski ‘kulen’ (sausage) from the Baranja region. This would mean the name cannot henceforth be used to sell foodstuffs in the EU except for such sausages made traditionally in their Croatian home region.
