CROATIA TEXTILE AND CLOTHING SECTOR COULD EXPLOIT EU ACCESSION – BUT THERE ARE RISKS

BY MARK ROWE CROATIA will join the European Union (EU) in one year's time (on July 1, 2013), and while the country's low wages offer opportunities to sell local textiles and clothing into the EU, the Croatian sector could be in better shape. Textile and clothing products make up 5% of Croatia's overall imports from the EU's 27 member states and 8.2% of Croatia's exported industrial goods are made by the sector.
