JRC CROP FORECAST PREDICTS SUGAR BEET YIELD INCREASE

THE EUROPEAN Union's (EU) Joint Research Centre is predicting that EU sugar beet yields will increase 4.2% this year, compared with 2006. Also a European Commission seven year forecast to 2013 has warned that a slow take-up of EU sugar market reforms and "a high level of stocks" could lead to excess supplies from 2009.
