THE US Department of Transportation (DOT) has released a hard hitting report highlighting major inefficiencies in the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) policy on managing potentially catastrophic bird strikes at the country's various airports.
The audit found that reported bird strikes in the USA had soared by nearly 460% over two decades, rising from 1,770 in 1990 to 9,840 last year.
