POLISH PIGMEAT PRODUCERS RECEIVE EU AID FOLLOWING SWINE FEVER-LINKED PRICE FALLS

Polish pigmeat producers operating in zones subject to movement controls because of the outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in local wild boars will be guaranteed payments of Euro EUR35.7 per 100kg for pigs slaughtered starting February 26, the European Commission has announced. The European Union (EU) will cover 50% of any public subsidy required to meet this price, with the rest being funded by the Polish government.
